You know, my on-going struggle with the local employment market has really taught me the value of having the right qualifications.

That value is zero.

I’ll admit, my arts degree was always going to be of questionable usefulness, but having a degree in journalism has proven to be just as useless in terms of securing work as a journalist, communications adviser or any related position at all.

So with this in mind, I’ve decided it’s high time I spent some time and effort in increasing my list of utterly useless qualifications.

I’ve enrolled to study theology.

It’s just two subjects a semester at this stage, but hopefully within just eight short years I’ll have… an equal amount of nothing to show for it. I've been thinking about this for a while, and decided that having so much time on my hands at the moment gives me the perfect opportunity to bite the bullet and get into it.

At least it’s more interesting than theoretical approaches to newsroom operations.

Make of that what you will.
